Quality Scent is a Chicago-based fragrance company founded in 1999, supplying fragrance oils and related products to wholesale, retail and consumer markets. Its catalog includes fragrance oils, burning oils, car sprays, shea butter, soaps, essential oils and other personal-care products.
In 2019, I migrated the company away from its previous ecommerce platform and rebuilt the site in WordPress and WooCommerce.
The biggest challenge was not simply reproducing the old site. The existing product structure needed to be reconsidered so a large and varied catalog could be organized in a way that was easier for customers to navigate and easier for the business to manage.
The Work
I rebuilt the store around WooCommerce and reorganized the product architecture, categories and navigation to better reflect how Quality Scent actually sells its products.
The work included migrating the existing ecommerce operation, restructuring the catalog, creating the new WordPress site and establishing a system the client could continue using for day-to-day product and order management.
The store now supports a wide range of product categories and variants, including multiple bottle sizes and related fragrance products, while maintaining standard ecommerce functionality such as customer accounts, carts, checkout and product browsing.
Result
The site has remained in active use since the 2019 rebuild and continues to support the company’s online sales without requiring a complete replacement.
While the visual design is now due for modernization, the underlying ecommerce structure has proven durable enough to support years of continued catalog and order activity.
I’m now returning to the project to improve and update the site while preserving the ecommerce operation and product structure already in place.
