Chava’s Tacos is a Chicago Mexican restaurant at 2333 W. Grand Ave., serving breakfast all day along with tacos, dinner, seafood and vegetarian options. The current Wix site gives customers quick access to the menu, online ordering, location and contact information.
I redesigned the restaurant’s website in 2023 and expanded the project beyond the site itself, creating new food photography and a digital menu-board system for the restaurant’s three in-store monitors.
The Work
The website was rebuilt in Wix with a stronger visual focus on the food and the practical information customers need most. I photographed the restaurant’s dishes specifically for use across the site and other marketing materials, giving Chava’s a library of original imagery rather than relying on generic or inconsistent photos.
That same photography became the foundation for the restaurant’s digital menu boards. I designed animated menu graphics in Canva, exported them as video, and deployed them through OptiSigns across three monitors inside the restaurant.
The menu system was scheduled so different content could run automatically during daytime and nighttime service, reducing the need for staff to manually change displays throughout the day.
I also trained the restaurant manager on how to update menu information and manage the system, giving the business more control over day-to-day changes without needing outside help for every edit.
Result
The project connected Chava’s public website and its in-store digital experience with a more consistent visual identity.
The restaurant gained a refreshed Wix website, original food photography, a coordinated three-screen digital menu system, automated day/night scheduling and a workflow the manager could maintain internally.
Chava’s has also remained a repeat client, returning regularly for additional website, design and digital-support work.
