Hi, I’m Alex.
I do web stuff.
I’m a Chicago-based web developer who helps businesses fix, improve, manage and build websites—without making the process more complicated than it needs to be.
I’ve been working with websites, technology and the businesses behind them for a long time. One Web Nerd is my way of putting all of that under one simple idea: you should have someone you can call when you need help with the web.

I’m based in Chicago and have spent years working with local businesses, agencies and organizations, along with clients well beyond the city.
Before One Web Nerd, I built websites and worked with clients through Handcut Designs, my independent web business. I’ve also spent years working inside companies and agencies, so I understand both sides: the person who just needs the website fixed and the team trying to keep a larger web operation moving.
Today, Handcut Designs is still the business behind the work. One Web Nerd is the simpler, more personal face of it

Not every old website needs rebuilding and not every new website needs complicated technology.

Your domain, website, content and important accounts should belong to you—not become leverage for whoever built the site.
