Green Beginnings is a childcare and early development center in Chicago’s West Loop focused on creating a safe, intimate and eco-conscious environment for young children. Its programs serve children from infancy through preschool, with an emphasis on social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
I’ve worked with Green Beginnings from the early stages of its web presence, helping the site evolve as both the business and web platforms changed over time.
The Work
The site has gone through several generations, beginning with an earlier Adobe Muse build, moving through another hosted platform, and eventually settling into Carrd.
The current site is designed around what families actually need to find quickly: program information, age groups, enrollment details, family resources, contact information, calendar updates and monthly food menus. The site also gives the staff simple areas they can update themselves for announcements and current information.
I continue to support the site with recurring content updates, including the monthly catering menus, while keeping the overall structure simple enough for the client to manage day-to-day announcements independently.
Result
Green Beginnings now has a lightweight, practical website that supports both prospective families and current parents without requiring a complex CMS.
The project is also a good example of a long-term client relationship where the technology has changed over time, but the goal has stayed the same: keep the website useful, current and easy for the organization to work with.
